Globalisation and trends for study of its impact on Education of Muslim Community in India
Abstract:
Globalisation is not a new phenomenon in the world’s socio-economic system. Globalisation obliterates local cultures by homogenising societies across the globe. Education is an important service, which affects and gets affected by the changing cultures around the globe. Muslims in India have brought a culture of their own into India in the Medieval period. Now, the same community is in a dilemma in the era of globalisation. They lack ideas, technologies, goods, services, capital and intellectuals. The educational institutions run by them are quite few in number, they lack quality staff and students. They lack entrepreneurs, capitalists industrialists and managers in the education field who can steer this community forward. They were never and especially now the dominant culture in India, but are influenced by Indian and foreign dominance. However, a ray of hope that exists, in the present globalised era is that they have a common culture, which they share with native Indian and Muslim world. They have common thoughts, beliefs, and languages as other Indians. They have a common religion, spirituality, and proximity to the Arabic language as other Muslim worlds, which widens their horizon to share and to some extent influence the global community. Foreign Muslim scholars can be brought to Indian Universities and an exchange of Indian scholars can take place with foreign Universities. This will help in harmonising many conflicts, which arise due to differences in cultures. Muslim graduates and professionals move towards Gulf countries in search of jobs, which is also an aspect of a globalised society. There are various other areas which can be studied in the context of globalisation. The paper intends to discuss various issues pertaining to the Education of the Indian Muslim Community in the Context of Globalisation.
